LINEAGE AND SOURCE OF THE TEACHINGS
The Structural Yoga Therapy™ training program is developed by Mukunda Stiles, founder of Structural Yoga™, and author of the books Structural Yoga Therapy, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy and Tantra Yoga Secrets. In keeping with yogic tradition, Mukunda spent years with master teachers, studying and refining his unique approach to teaching yoga within a yogic lifestyle. His work is founded in two principal yoga lineages: his physical approach is based on his studies with teachers in the lineage of Krishnamacharya – Paul Copeland, MD; Indra Devi; Rama Jyoti Vernon; and BKS Iyengar. Mukunda’s spiritual approach is based on the teachings of his beloved mentor Muktananda, and Muktananda’s student, Swami Prakashananda. These are the teachings that are passed along – with great respect, and with great love – from teacher to student, and form the dual lineages of the Structural Yoga™ Teacher Training. Chinnamasta was initiated and taught the SYT and AYT program multiple years together with her beloved Mukunda. She continues to share these teachings with two senior teachers Zoe Zowalchuk and Mangala Warner who known and have assisted Mukunda for 30 years.
SCOPE OF THE TRAINING
The scope of SYT training is to enable trainees to give personalized effective guidance to yoga clients to overcome their physical challenges and alleviate pain so that the deeper practices can bear fruit. The ideal environment for this work is yoga centers, holistic health centers, and those serving as personal yoga mentors.
This training is based on the Classical Yoga of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Krishnamacharya's principle of adapting to the individual, and the spiritual teachings of Swami Muktananda.
