Anyone who is a yoga teacher, or who has questions to your teachers about how to take care of your personal needs, will most likely get your questions answered by this book. It is beautiful, and grounded in tradition. I have over 40 books on yoga, and it wasn't until I read this one that I had my questions and the info to really improve my individual practice and avoid unbalanced prana that I had been experiencing from the way I had been doing hatha yoga according to the format my teachers gave me - the class format. The thing that separates this book in such a great way, is that it brings the valuable info to the practitioner in how to create the proper approach to asana, as opposed to the class format. It teaches yoga in the traditional personal way. Specifically it is a dosha type approach, This book is such a great reference and gift to the too often confused yoga practitioner. "This is the most readable and enjoyable interpretation of the Yoga Sutras I have ever seen." |
Mukunda steers away from an increasing tendency to 'medicalize' yoga therapy by avoiding prescriptive recommendations for specific medical diagnoses. He presents sequences of Vinyasa and pranayama suited to the various Ayurvedic body types. Yoga therapists and practitioners using this book can access a deeper level of preventative self-care, attuning to the rhythm of each individual. Enlivened by wisdom teachings, it provides food for body, soul and spirit, guiding practitioners towards fulfillment of their potential.
